The November-December meeting will feature a couple of important presentations.
Scott Greene of Metro will explain how Metro defines and plans different kinds of
bus service in the South Bay. Transit service of some type will be a significant
component of our SCS, and Metro will be a significant collaborator in preparing our
SCS. Scott's presentation will provide us with an excellent opportunity to pose the
questions about bus service that we always wanted to ask.
Susan Harden, Principal of RBF Consulting, will introduce the work scope and
schedule for SBCCOG's 2009-10 Compass Grant Demonstration Project. Susan will
provide progress reports as the project advances but at this meeting she will
introduce the project and its timeline. This will be a good opportunity for LCWG
members to provide guidance and advice as RBF will be looking for development
opportunities in the South Bay. RBF's final product will be PowerPoint and study
sessions designed for Councils and planning commissions. Jennifer Sarnecki of SCAG
will briefly explain the Compass program and introduce Susan.
Implementation of the LUV Demonstration will begin after the first of the year. We
are about to acquire the vehicles for our fleet and have identified the first round
of participants. A kick-off event is being defined and your ideas are welcome.
Finally, there will be an update on the SBCCOG's approach to collaborating with SCAG to
produce our SCS; review RTAC recommendations on the target's unit of measurement,
and clarify what is apparently a misconception about SCAG's data collection and
population forecast process.
