Homeland Security Task Force
 
The Homeland Security Task Force seeks to strengthen disaster preparedness and hometown security in the South Bay by promoting the cooperation of all governmental agencies in the South Bay and improving information sharing.  It works to accomplish this by:
 
§         Cooperatively obtaining and deploying more resources (financial as well as enhanced mutual aid) and personnel to protect our infrastructure;
 
§         Encouraging all South Bay cities to keep their emergency preparedness plans current and used as working documents in regular trainings, which are understood and practiced by city staff and officials;
 
§         Promoting the development of coordinated preparedness plan, which include not only public safety departments, but also all other city departments to enable the South Bay to work cooperatively in advance preparation for the prevention management and recovery from a manmade or natural disaster;
 
§         Supporting the development of city-coordinated preparedness plans with
 
o        nearby special districts and other governmental agencies, such as school district;
 
o        regional facilities, such as LAX and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach ;
 
o        critical infrastructure providers, such as Caltrans, the L.A. County Sanitation District and the West Basin Water District;
 
o        the South Bay Business community; and
 
o        citizen volunteers, such as CERT and Citizen Corps programs.
