The Board of Directors serves as the primary governing body for the SBCCOG. The Board is comprised of elected officials from each of the SBCCOG's member cities. Each city appoints one delegate and one alternate member to serve on the Board.

Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee monitors, evaluates and recommends to the Board positions on Regional, State and Federal proposed legislation and regulations.   Actions are based on a Legislative Agenda which the committee annually develops for SBCCOG Board of Directors’ adoption.

Steering Committee
The Steering Committee serves as the Executive Committee of the SBCCOG. Its members are the officers of the SBCCOG and committee chairs, as well as the chairs of the Working Groups and a representative from the South Bay City Managers’ Group.

Technology Committee
The Technology Committee’s mission is to promote the use of technology through education and information sharing in order to enhance the ability of member cities to more efficiently and effectively deliver services to their constituents.

Transportation Committee
The Transportation Committee reviews transportation issues including aviation and transit and recommends policy to the Board of Directors.  Aviation issues such as the Los Angeles International Airport and regional airport planning that affect cities in the SBCCOG are discussed.  This committee also monitors public transit in the South Bay and reviews coordination and needed improvements to transit systems. Additionally the committee reviews regional transit projects and transportation plans as they affect the South Bay and promotes Transportation Demand Management (TDM) projects such as vanpools and carpools.

GIS Working Group
The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Working Group gets its members from staff of member cities.  Group members work to advance the use of technology in city operations through education and information sharing as well as coordinating joint projects.

Livable Communities Working Group
The Livable Communities Working Group’s goal is to inform and educate our member cities and staff on the components of quality neighborhoods and commercial centers. This Working Group looks at strategies to re-shape and re-develop existing areas to enhance their appearance, improve transportation opportunities and air quality as well as addressing overall quality of living.

Green Cities Task Force
The South Bay Cities Green Task Force is an advisory group that serves as a clearinghouse for policies, programs and projects on energy efficiency, air quality, resource conservation and climate action steps that South Bay cities can adopt to not only lead by example as good environmental stewards but also to influence behaviors that directly affect climate change in areas such as transportation options, energy consumption patterns and general consumer decisions. The Task Force also evaluates proposed legislation on subjects of sustainability and makes recommendations to the SBCCOG Board of Directors. Utilizing the South Bay Energy Savings Center, information is made available to the cities for their individual actions as well as facilitating the development and coordination of joint action plans.

Homeland Security Task Force
The Homeland Security Task Force seeks to strengthen disaster preparedness and hometown security in the South Bay by promoting the cooperation of all governmental agencies in the South Bay and improving information sharing.
